A digital asset is a resource that exists in digital form and over which an organisation holds usage or property rights — domains, content libraries, software, recorded audio or structured data. In accounting and media strategy the term marks items that can be operated, licensed or sold, not merely published once. Rights, metadata and durability decide whether an asset keeps its value.
