- Answer engineAn answer engine returns a synthesized response instead of only a list of links. Systems such as Google AI Overviews (rolled out from 2024) and Perplexity generate text from retrieved sources. Visibility there depends on clear entities and citable statements, not on classic blue-link ranking alone.
- Audio brandingAudio branding (also called sonic branding) uses composed sound — stings, beds, voices — so a brand is recognized by ear. Established examples include the Intel bong and McDonald’s five-note melody. Unlike a one-off jingle, a sonic identity is meant to stay consistent across ads, products and spaces.
C
- CompositionIn music, composition is the creation of an original work — melody, harmony, rhythm and form — as distinct from recording or mixing an existing performance. Film and media scores are compositions written to picture or to a brief. Performing rights societies such as GEMA in Germany administer the resulting copyrights.
- Core Web VitalsCore Web Vitals are Google’s field metrics for real-user page experience: Largest Contentful Paint (loading), Interaction to Next Paint (responsiveness) and Cumulative Layout Shift (visual stability). In March 2024 INP replaced First Input Delay as the responsiveness vital. Google Search Central treats them as ranking-related quality signals, not as the only ranking factor.
- Corporate BrainCorporate Brain is munichmedia’s product name for a citable knowledge architecture on a scarce category domain: entities, topics and relations built so search and answer engines can quote them. It is not a magazine that burns through topics, and not a parked name. The domain is the public address; the knowledge graph is the substance that keeps the asset usable for years.
- CSSCascading Style Sheets (CSS) is the W3C language that describes presentation — layout, type, colour — separately from HTML structure. Modern CSS is standardised through CSS specifications at the W3C; browsers implement them incrementally. Used with restraint it keeps pages fast because style can be cached and applied without extra frameworks.
D
- Digital assetA digital asset is a resource that exists in digital form and over which an organisation holds usage or property rights — domains, content libraries, software, recorded audio or structured data. In accounting and media strategy the term marks items that can be operated, licensed or sold, not merely published once. Rights, metadata and durability decide whether an asset keeps its value.
- DomainA domain name is a human-readable address in the Domain Name System (DNS), coordinated globally via ICANN and national registries. It maps a name such as munichmedia.com to infrastructure. Premium or category-defining domains are traded as scarce digital assets because they carry type-in traffic, brand protection and memorability.
E
- EntityIn knowledge representation an entity is a uniquely identifiable thing — a person, organisation, place, work or concept — as opposed to a mere keyword string. Google’s Knowledge Graph (launched 2012) and Wikidata store entities and their relations. Search and answer systems match queries to entities, which is why unambiguous names and identifiers matter.
- Entity engineeringEntity engineering is an applied practice: modelling brands, topics and relations as a data model so machines can disambiguate them. It draws on knowledge engineering and on schema such as Schema.org, not on a separate ISO standard. The aim is durable discoverability in search and answer engines rather than a one-off keyword campaign.
- Entity SEOEntity SEO optimises for how search systems understand things, not just strings. It uses consistent names, sameAs links, Schema.org types and topical relations so a brand or work can be matched to a knowledge-graph node. Google’s documentation on structured data and the Knowledge Graph describes this entity-based understanding; it does not replace crawlability or useful content.

- Generative searchGenerative search uses large language models to compose an answer from retrieved documents instead of showing only ranked URLs. Google’s AI Overviews and similar features in Bing and Perplexity are production examples from 2023–2024. Source selection still depends on crawlable, well-structured pages; the generated layer then summarises them.
- GEOGenerative Engine Optimization (GEO) is an industry term, widely discussed from 2023, for making content likely to be retrieved and cited by generative answer systems. It is not an official Google ranking product. In practice it means entity-clear writing, machine-readable relations and quotable facts — complementary to classic SEO, not a replacement.

- JavaScriptJavaScript is the programming language of the web, standardised as ECMAScript (ECMA-262) by Ecma International. Browsers compile it to run interactivity, but excess JavaScript delays rendering and hurts Interaction to Next Paint. Using it sparingly — as this site does — is a performance decision, not a lack of capability.
- JSON-LDJSON-LD (JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data) is a W3C Recommendation (2014) for expressing linked data in JSON. Google recommends JSON-LD as a format for Schema.org markup in HTML pages. It describes entities and relations in a script block without changing what users see.

- Schema.orgSchema.org is a collaborative vocabulary for structured data on the web, launched in 2011 by Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Yandex. Types such as Organization, Article or Person can be embedded as JSON-LD. Search engines use it to disambiguate entities; it does not by itself guarantee rich results.
- SEOSearch engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of making pages discoverable and useful for search engines and their users. Google Search Central documents technical basics (crawl, index, mobile, HTTPS) and quality rater concepts such as E-E-A-T. SEO is not a single trick; it combines information architecture, performance and substance.
- Sound designSound design is the craft of creating or shaping audio for a medium — film, games, products, spatial installations. It includes recording, synthesis, editing and mixing of effects and atmospheres, as distinct from composing songs. In media brands it often supplies the textures that sit under a sonic logo.
- SoundscapeA soundscape is an acoustic environment as perceived, a term popularised by R. Murray Schafer in acoustic ecology. In media production it means a designed bed of atmospheres and motifs that gives a place or brand a spatial character. It is not a pop song; it is the audible room around speech and picture.
